Along
the Road to 'Turon Springs
Place
Yourself in a GOLDMiNE.

One hundred and
twenty
five acres of hills
creeks and gullies in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales is more
earth being
revitalised by down
to earth adventurers, imitating nature. Study and enhancing natural
phenomenon during extended periods provided us excellent base material,
for re-inventing the
clock at last. We
can study LiFE being re-built, over and over
again.
Squatting on a hill top, it's right on top of what was an undersea
volcano. You'll be standing on the crest of The Great
Dividing Range: iT's a hidden valley
on the upper reaches of the Turon River and worth exploring.
Since
European occupation
land west of the divide was used primarily for the production of meat
and wool. Land
was extensively cleared for grazing in many areas of Australia during
our nineteen
thirties depression, putting unemployed to work,
ring-barking
trees. ooh!
pooh! Mono-agricultural
farming practices since, have led to degradation and
eroded non
profitable Lifestyles. An entry in a dead local's
diary suggests koalas
were taken to
Sydney to see why they were dying from mange. There's
none here today but might return
with
suitable
vegetation. Publications reported
2,000 diggers were
on their way to the
spot during the gold rush of the eighteen hundreds. Water
races built by Chinese prospectors meandering through the hillls and
even tunnels,
mine shafts and
mullock heaps around the district are evident of the action and
activity. Gold fields will no
doubt re-erupt
through modern technology and detection methods. iT WiLL be P R i C E
S though, sparking the next rush.
Fossils can be
found
on
hills to the west.

Early parish maps
depict aboriginal settlement north east
of the farm on the Turon River, a spot Now known as Long
Nose Point. Australian
Aborigines were annihilated in these
districts as in much of
the country by early settlers.
Martial
Law was
declared in Bathurst.
Local soldiers, police
and farmers were
given totally free
rein to murder or maim every Aborigine who could be found. No
questions would be
asked.
Join a QUEST? Helping revitalize
those Australian HEARTS?
i don't
think! Map.
